Oil and Cold Wax Mixed Media Abstraction with Sara Post
In an atmosphere of environmental beauty and community sharing, this workshop invites students to explore oil paint mixed with cold wax medium, oil pigment sticks, collage papers and drawing materials. The resulting mixed media paintings are a powerful vehicle for abstract narrative, spontaneity and invention. Students will learn how to combine specific techniques unique to working with cold wax with the sensory inspiration of place and the more formal elements of abstraction. Each student is encouraged to build and/or reinforce a visual vocabulary unique to their art making. In addition to class work, we’ll keep an active sketchbook, watch interviews with contemporary artists, and wander this beautiful part of the wild Atlantic way. This is an immersive art experience, which encourages development of your personal artistic expression in response to one’s self and the wider world of our surroundings. Open to students at all levels.
