Ballinglen En Plein Air 2022: A series of three Summer one-day workshops

Saturday August 13th:
                 COLOUR, ITS PHENOMENA AND PRACTICE with Roger Chavez.
From a painter's point of view learn how our vision responds to colour and its relationship to light - this will bring us to an examination of prismatic hues, earth tone colours and the colour systems. Please bring the following colours: Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Red Medium, Raw Umber, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, and Venetian Red. Also bring palette paper, a metal palette knife, 2-3 brushes of your choice, a small canvas or canvas board. Bring either Acrylic or Oil paint. If you plan on using oil paints, please bring linseed oil, and white spirit.

Saturday, August 20th:
DRAWING INTO PAINTING with painter Patricia Burns
Still life with particular attention on composition and structure. Patricia will set up a large still life for the first part of the day to look at composition, negative/positive space including examination of still life painting by Cezanne and Pissaro for inspiration. The second part will be painting directly from objects. Bring: canvas, the bigger the better! and acrylic paint, brushes, palette.

Sunday, August 28th:
MASTERCLASS DEMONSTRATION ON PORTRAITURE with Mick O'Dea PPRHA.
Paint a portrait alongside Mick. You will work from life with a local model to paint a portrait in one sitting. Tuition /advice on canvas, brushes and mixing colours. Bring acrylic or oil: white, yellow ochre, ultramarine, alizarin crimson, lemon yellow and other colours if you wish, brushes, palette, canvas, board or paper.


All levels of experience welcome.
