Dance and Draw - A Cruinniú na nÓg event: The Ballinglen Museum of Art and The Ballinglen Gallery

7 June 2025

dance, draw and celebrate cruinniú na nóg, June 7, 2pm.

Join us on Saturday June 7th in Ballinglen, Ballycastle, to create art and partake in a dance workshop to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg. This is going to be an unforgettable day of creativity and fun! This is for children aged 0-8 years old, booking is essential and spaces are limited. Please email ballinglenarts@gmail.com to secure your place. All children must be accompanied by an adult and guardian.

You will begin with a visit to The Ballinglen Museum of Art, here, you will look at Dame Barbara Rae's exhibition, seeking inspiration from the vibrant colours and bold brushstrokes of her work. As you move around the museum, you will be encouraged to let loose and let your body respond to the art - think swinging, shaking and bouncing... This is not your typical Museum visit! Once warmed up, the adventure will begin - you will partake in an interpretive dance workshop in our gallery and will move through what you see with Barbara Rae's exhibition inspiring you. Our expert dance instructor, Julie McGovern, will guide you through a series of fun and engaging exercises. Once the dance workshop is complete, you will absorb Barbara's work again with fresh eyes and take some time to relive your experiences through drawing. This part is all about expressing yourself and having fun with art. To top it all off, a party will be held to celebrate your creativity and the joy of Cruinniú na nÓg.
