This workshop will focus on two objectives. First, we will begin to understand the challenges of painting the landscape and how to adapt our techniques so that we can begin to govern our mark-making with the ever-changing Irish landscape. Second, we will investigate those issues universal to painting such as composition, space, and color. We will discuss and explore color mixing and begin to develop key habits essential for greater fluency. Discussing the characteristics and limitations of the picture plane will further our understanding of the challenges involved in creating two-dimensional images. Additionally, examining historical spaces such as Renaissance, Cubism, and Modern space will provide insight into their association with the picture plane. Individual attention is prioritized for the workshop, welcoming beginners to advanced students.
